Incredible India

Got a wildlife experience you’re bursting to share? Craft a canny tale and you could win a trip to Tanzania and get published in BBC Wildlife.

THE WAY TO WIN

» This is a travel-writing competition, so primarily your story must convey a genuine feeling of travel and discovery. Recollections of small details can help to conjure up a real sense of place.

» But we are also a wildlife magazine, so we want you to write about a trip or experience in which you have had an encounter with a wild animal (or animals).

» You don’t have to have visited some far-flung, exotic destination for it to count as travel – consider writing about places closer to home as well.

» Read the rules (below) very carefully.

All entries must be received by 28 Feb 2009

James Fair

THE PRIZES
»
First prize is a safari for two with Expert Africa to Tanzania. With visits to Selous Game Reserve and Zanzibar, you’ll be going to two very different, but top-rated wildlife destinations.

» Your overnight flight from London to Dar es Salaam will be followed by a short flight to the Selous, a reserve prized for its herds of elephants and giraffes, plus predators such as lions, spotted hyenas and African wild dogs.

» You will spend five nights at Beho Beho, probably the best camp in the Selous, where you can enjoy game drives and walking safaris led by professional guides.

» If you’re feeling brave, venture away from the camp for a ‘Bush Night’, where you can dine with the guide beside the campfire, and listen to the sounds of the surrounding wildlife.

» After Selous, you’ll fly to Zanzibar for five nights at Fumba Beach Lodge within the Menai Conservation Area, where your wildlife spotting could involve a snorkelling or diving trip.

» You will end with two nights at The Swahili House, a newly-renovated small boutique hotel in Stone Town.

» This 16-day Expert Africa safari usually costs from £3,856 per person sharing. You can view the full itinerary here.

» For more information, contact Expert Africa 0208 232 9777;

» Four runners-up will receive three Bradt Travel Guides of their choice.
